In September 2021, I provided volunteered web design and development services to the International Child Art Foundation (ICAF). ICAF owns a few websites–one of which is for their Arts Olympiad program.

The Arts Olympiad homepage needed to be redesigned and made responsive. In a span of a week along side my full-time job, I spent over 20 hours in meeting the nonprofits needs:

  • Reviewed the former homepage and requirements send by nonprofit founder.
  • Created a high-fidelity mockup of the homepage using Figma. (About half of my time was spent in this phase to ensure the development phase would be straightforward.)
  • Reviewed the mockup with the founder.
  • Coded the new homepage (HTML, CSS, lightly working with PHP). Leveraged Bootstrap’s responsive grid framework. Used Font Awesome for web-friendly icons.
  • Deployed and tested the new homepage using FTP (the nonprofit’s current setup).

My design choices make it easier to see the call to actions and give a friendlier look and feel. No branding colors were provided so I took colors from the Art Olympiad logo for my color palette. I also updated the photo gallery’s user interface by using Bootstrap’s carousel component.
